An Original Linocut Print of Viviane, Lady of the Lake, ancient priestess of the Arthurian mythology

Handprinted by myself at my home studio in the Northeast of England, so everyone is slightly different and unique.

The process of a linocut print is quite lengthy. I digitally design most of my prints, these are then printed and transfered to a block for carving. Once carved the block is inked and printed to produce the final piece. Each edition is different but limited. This edition will be of 20 prints. Each print is titled and signed for authenticity and comes with a descriptive note about the mythology of the design.
The lady of the lake is a well known ethereal character from the mythology of Arthur. She is the high priestess of Avalon, and in many versions, the lover of Merlin. In her most famous form, she is the priestess who gifts the magic sword, Excalibur to Arthur and is one of his greatest supporters. The lady of the lake has had many names, Viviane, Nimue, Ninianne and even sometimes Morgana. To me though, Viviane will always be the Lady of Lake.

This linocut print is hand printed on delicate nepalese mitsumata washi paper, with caligo safewash ink. Caligo Safewash Ink is an oil based ink which can be cleaned up without using toxic cleaners, its main ingredient is linseed oil which makes them environmentally friendly and easy to work with.

The size of the print is 15cm square and the paper is approximately 25cm square with deckled edges.

This is for the print only, if you would a mounted print to fit a frame, please get in touch, as I can do this for you.
